Who hasn't heard of vampires, werewolves, redcaps....

Okay, maybe I play too much Final Fantasy, but still! No matter what creature it is, you can trace it back to somewhere. Don't believe me? Look down here if you dare!

Vampires: You know I had to start here. Vampires have come from all over, so I'll start at the beginning. I think. Lilith is an old Mesopotamian (that is, the land northeast of Egypt, where Iraq is now) demon said to harm little boys. She is linked to ki-sikil-lil-la-ke, from the epic of Giligamesh. The Empusa are Greek vampires with flaming hair and mismatched legs of bronze and donkey. They were said to shapeshift (familliar) into beautiful women to lure young men so they could drink their blood and eat their flesh. These daughters of Hecate could be scared off by hurling insults, at which point they flee with a shriek. Also grouped with Empusae are Lamiae, half human and half snake creatures that hunt children and young men.
